How to Get Paint Off of Fabric
- 1). Scratch off any excess paint left on the fabric using a plastic knife, then run the stained area under some hot water to help wash out as much paint as possible.
- 2). Rub some mild dish soap into the stain and let it sit for five minutes. Run the stain under hot water again to remove the soap. Repeat a few times until a majority of the stain is removed.
- 3). Fill a spray bottle with 1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol and spray the stained area so it is thoroughly dampened with rubbing alcohol. Dab at the area with a dry paper towel and continue spraying and blotting until the paint is removed. Wash and dry the garment as usual.
- 1). Scratch off any excess paint left on the fabric using a plastic knife, then lay a paper towel over the stain and gently press it down to slowly soak up any wet paint.
- 2). Lay the stained area of fabric over a few layers of white paper towels. Pour 1/2 cup of turpentine into a spray bottle and spray the stained area four or five times so it is dampened with turpentine. Dab and gently rub the stain with a damp paper towel for a few minutes.
- 3). Remove the white paper towels under the stain after a few minutes of dabbing and lay down new ones. Repeat spraying the stain with turpentine and dabbing at it so it pushes paint out of the fabric and onto the paper towels underneath. Continue with these steps until paint no longer bleeds out onto paper towels.
- 4). Squeeze a small amount of liquid dish soap over the stained area and scrub it into the fabric with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Let the soap sit on the fabric for six hours, then wash the fabric in your washer and dryer as you would normally.
