How to Clean the Mesh Area of Stove Fans
- 1). Remove the filter from the hood by pulling it towards yourself along the metal guides until you have it all the way out. Do not pull it down or up while it is still sliding through the guides, as the metal frame will bend.
- 2). Rinse the filter with hot water and place it into the bottom of a dish pan.
- 3). Pour enough hot water into the dishpan to cover the mesh filter and add 2 to 3 teaspoons of degreasing cleanser. Allow the filter to sit and soak in the degreaser solution for 20 to 30 minutes to dissolve the grease.
- 4). Dump the degreaser solution out of the dishpan, remove the mesh filter and rinse the pan and filter with hot water. Place the filter back into the dish pan.
- 5). Fill the dish pan halfway with hot water and add dish soap to create suds.
- 6). Scrub the filter with a scrub brush and the sudsy water. This will remove the degreaser.
- 7). Rinse the filter with hot water and let it air-dry overnight.
- 8). Slide the filter back into place through the metal guides to secure it under the exhaust hood.
