How to Remove Polish Stain

104 76

    Clothing stains

    • 1). Treat the stain with a prewash stain-removal stick. Wash the clothing as usual.

    • 2). Check the clothing before drying. If the stain is still visible, mix one part oxygenated bleach powder with four parts water.

    • 3). Soak the clothing in the bleach solution for 30 minutes to 1 hour or until the stain fades, whichever happens first.

    • 4). Rinse the bleach from the fabric in clear water and launder as usual.

    Carpet and upholstery

    • 1). Dampen a white cloth in dry cleaning solvent and wipe it onto the stain.

    • 2). Use a second cloth to blot up all the solvent from the carpet or upholstery. This should lift most, if not all, of the polish. Repeat two to three times, if necessary.

    • 3). Mix 1 tablespoon mild dishwashing liquid with 1 tablespoon vinegar. Add 2 cups warm water to the solution. Sponge the solution onto any polish that is not removed with the dry cleaning solvent.

    • 4). Blot the stain with a dry cloth until the upholstery or carpet is dry.

    • 5). Blot with clean cold water and continue blotting until all the moisture is absorbed from the fiber.
