Tile Floor Cleaning Tips
- Cleaning tile is easy. Sweep it every day to remove debris. A simple bucket of warm water is the only thing you will need in your weekly mopping routine.
Of course, there are times when the tiling will need a more extensive cleaning. A standard floor cleaner is enough to remove most stains.
Note that in the case of slate and marble flooring, it is vital to avoid any cleaner containing acid, such as white vinegar. This can cause great damage to the tile. Warm water is best, mixed with a small quantity of mild detergent if absolutely necessary.
After using a floor cleaner on your tiling, rinse it thoroughly with water. This will remove any residues and reduce the odors these cleaners may give off. - When it comes to ceramic tiling, the grout can be the most frustrating part to clean. Grout is porous and stains with the greatest of ease.
You can try removing stains, dirt and grime from grout by mopping the floors with a solution of one tablespoon of rubbing alcohol to one bucket of water.
However, your grout may need a little more care. For tough stains, fill a small spray bottle with one part hydrogen peroxide to one part water and apply to the grout. Continue spraying as necessary.
