How to Braze Yellow Brass
- 1). Cut the lengths of yellow brass pipes to size using a tube cutter. Remove any burrs inside the pipes with the reaming attachment of the tube cutter.
- 2). Wipe off the outside of the metal piping where it will join the next piece with 120-grit emery cloth.
- 3). Clean out the inside edge of the yellow brass piping you're planning to braze with a fitting brush.
- 4). Brush on a thin layer of flux using a flux brush where the two pieces of yellow brass will join together.
- 5). Insert the pieces into one another. Apply heat to the connection using a propane torch. Keep the heat going for several seconds, moving it slightly to heat up all the yellow brass you're joining.
- 6). Apply the solder directly to the joints where the two pieces of yellow brass come together. The solder will melt and braze the metal pipes so that they're permanently connected.
