How to Heat a Rice Pillow
- 1). Place two paper towels on top of the turntable in your microwave. They'll absorb moisture that leaches from your bag over the first few heating sessions. After you use your bag three or four times, you shouldn't need paper towels anymore.
- 2). Place your heating bag on the edge of the turntable. Heating your rice bag works the same as heating food; the center doesn't heat as well as the edges. If your heat bag is large, try folding it into a doughnut around the edges of the table.
- 3). Decide how warm you want your bag. If you want to place the bag over two or more layers of clothing, warm it on high for three minutes. If you want to place it on one layer of clothing or bare skin, try two minutes or even a minute and a half.
- 4). Pull the heating bag out of the microwave and knead it in your hands. If it doesn't feel warm enough, warm it 30 seconds at a time until it is. If it's too hot, leave it in the microwave with the door open for about two minutes.
- 5). Warm pet beds and children with your heating pad. Place the bag in the microwave for about a minute and let it cool for another minute. This should be warm enough to be cozy, but not hot enough to cause harm.
