    • 1). Cut two squares of wood approximately 3 inches long by 3 inches wide and 1 inch thick and two boards about 1 inch wide and 2 feet long using a table saw. Attach the two metal panels parallel to each other to the surface of one of the squares with carpenter's adhesive and strong finishing nails. Set this square aside to dry for one to two hours.

    • 2). Lay the two long boards flat, about an inch apart. Attach the ends of these boards to the backside (the bare side) of the square with the metal plates with adhesive and nails; let the adhesive dry completely. Position the second square up against the other ends of the boards, so that it is perpendicular to the first board, and attach it in the same manner.

    • 3). Cut thick padding and a durable fabric to the size of the top of the bare block, adding 1 to 2 inches to all sides. Spread adhesive onto the top of the wood and attach the padding; add a bit more adhesive over the padding and add the fabric. Tuck under all of the edges and glue them down or pull the edges down the sides of the block and staple them in place.
