How to Remove Mold Under a Bathroom Cabinet
- 1). Put on protective gear including a respirator, gloves, goggles and clothing that you can remove once you have finished cleaning up the mold. Place a garbage bag for your clothing near the bathroom cabinet.
- 2). Use a water spray bottle to dampen moldy areas under the bathroom cabinet, minimizing the chance of mold spores becoming airborne. Use a sheetrock saw to remove any sheetrock that has mold on it and throw the sheetrock in a trash bag.
- 3). Pour ammonia-free soap over the affected areas and scrub thoroughly with a scrub brush. Mix 1/2 cup of bleach with 1 gallon of water and use the solution to rinse the cleaned area.
- 4). Rinse the clean area with water after 15 minutes, then place fans or a dehumidifier in the room. Dry the wet surfaces with towels and throw the towels in the trash bag you will use for your clothes.
- 5). Inspect the cleaned area for mold and sand any wood surfaces still affected. Vacuum up the sawdust with a shop vacuum and empty it into a trash bag. Remove your protective gear and place your clothing in the bag with the towels. Close the bag tight.
- 6). Wash your clothes and towels immediately after you finish. Take a hot shower and scrub your body thoroughly.
