KidCo Safety Gate Installation
- Lay all the parts on the floor, and tick each off against the parts checklist to ensure no components are missing or damaged. Use the instruction manual to install your gate on a structurally sound opening and mount it on a rigid surface.
- When installing, ensure that the sections fit without there being any distance between the rails or bars. Start by aligning the two sections against one another. Put one side of the gate against one side of the opening. There should be between 2 inches and 4 3/4 inches from the opposite side of the gate to the wall or door frame.
Place assembly parts "d1" and "e1" on the top rail and assembly parts "e2" and "d2" on the lower rail. Secure by fitting in screws "f" screw sockets "g" into the four assembly fittings. Secure the handle and hinge parts "h," "i," "j" and "k" on the gate. Follow by inserting the screws "l" and screw sockets "m" into all four parts.
To do a hinge side mount, separate template "a" from template "b" by cutting along the dotted lines. Hold template "a" next to the mounting surface and mark the position for the screw holes. Mount the upper hinge bracket "n" with two wood screws "o." Mount the lower hinge bracket " p" with two wood screws "o," ensuring the angled side is facing down.
To do a locking side mount, hold template "b" next to the mounting surface and mark the position for the screw holes. Place stop pin "t" into the holes of the lower bracket. Install upper "w"" and lower locking "s" bracket with two wood screws "o." Complete by placing part "r" into the upper locking bracket "w."
Place the gate onto the hinge parts. Place the spring "u" and hinge cap "v" onto the upper hinge bracket post. Center the gate and ensure the screws on parts "h," "i," "j" and "k" rest on the hinge and locking side brackets. Adjust if necessary. - Don't use your gate if any of the parts are damaged or broken. Don't hang or attach toys to the gate. If your child can climb over or open the gate, don't use it. Make sure the gate is more the 75 percent of your child's height. Regularly check to ensure all the screws are tight and the components are in place. Use the gate only with children age 6 to 24 months.
