How to Get Stains From Linoleum

104 32
    • 1). Mix 1/2 cup of mild floor cleaner to 3 gallons of water in a bucket. Fill another bucket with plain water. Mop the linoleum with the floor cleaner water, wring out the mop then dip into the plain, clean water. Wring out the mop, then re-insert the mop into the cleaner water and mop again. This process keeps the mop as clean as possible and will not transfer dirty water back onto the linoleum. Give one final rinse to the floor with clean water and allow to dry. Do this process once a week for general maintenance of your floor.

    • 2). Wipe up tough stains such as ink, nail polish and black scuff marks with nail polish remover containing acetone. Apply a small amount of acetone nail polish remover to a soft cloth and rub out the stain.

    • 3). Make a paste with 1 tsp. of baking soda and 1/2 tsp. of water if cleaning liquids or acetone don't remove the stain. Apply the mixture to stains and allow to dry completely. Rinse off with plain water and let dry completely.

    • 4). Mix two parts of distilled vinegar with three parts water in a small bucket, another option for stains that can't be removed with cleaning liquid or acetone. Pour about 1 tbsp. of this mixture on tough stains and let sit for about 20 minutes. Use more mixture for large stains. Wipe clean with a clean cloth.
