    • 1). Unplug the dryer. Open the dryer door. Pull the dryer out from the wall by placing your hand on the inside of the dryer and pulling it towards you. Locate the dryer plug attached to the wall and remove it.

    • 2). Detach the vent hose from the dryer. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the hose to the vent clamp on the dryer. Store the screws in a safe place. Remove the aluminum elbow attached to the vent hose and the vent hose itself from the dryer.

    • 3). Place your hand inside the vent hose to remove any trapped lint you can reach, being careful not to damage the inside of the hose.

    • 4). Use a vacuum to reach lent trapped deep in the hose. Attach a hose extension attachment to your vacuum cleaner. Gently swipe the attachment through the dryer vent hose, removing the last of the trapped lint.

    • 5). Use a wire hanger as an alternative to a vacuum hose attachment. Use your hands to bend the wire hanger into a long hook. Gently place the wire hanger inside the dryer hose, hook on to the lint and remove. Repeat until the hose is clean.

    • 6). Reattach the dryer hose. Place the dryer hose onto the clamp, and secure it in place by using a Phillips head screwdriver to reinstall the screws.

    • 7). Plug the dryer in to the electrical outlet.

    • 8). Push the dryer back into position by placing your hand against the dryer and pushing away from you until the dryer aligns in its original spot.
