- 1). Before the audience arrives, tape a short piece of magician's string to the back of a playing card. Make sure to attach the string at the middle of the top of the card.
- 2). Tape the other end of the string to a button on your shirt.
- 3). Insert the playing card back into the center of the deck. Invite the audience in.
- 4). Tell the audience that you will make a card rise from the deck and float.
- 5). Turn the deck so that the bottom card faces the audience. Slip your hand over the deck so that the string lies between two of your fingers. Then lift your hand slowly, pulling on the string as you wiggle your fingers. The card should rise out of the deck.
- 6). Pull the rest of the deck away from the floating card so that it appears that the card is floating in the air. Then quickly return the card to the deck and detach the string from the card.
