    One to Four Months

    • At 1 month old, your baby's hands are in little fists and her legs are curled up as if she's still in your womb. She'll gain a half pound a week and hold her head up at 2 months. She'll be able to lift her head and chest off the floor at 3 months. At 4 months she'll sit with support and reach for things.

    Five to Eight Months

    • Your baby can roll over and sit with one arm propped at 5 or 6 months. He'll even start to babble and try to imitate words. At 7 to 8 months, he'll be up on his hands and knees, rock back and forth, and start crawling.

    Nine Months to a Year

    • At 9 to 10 months, your baby will start standing and walk along the furniture. At 11 months to a year, your baby may take her first steps, fall a little, and then become a walking dynamo.
