    • 1). Cut a 3-yard piece of each of your gimp colors. Fold them in half to find the centers and slid your lanyard hook onto the piece, sliding them to the center. Fold the gimp down around the lanyard hook so you now have four strands of gimp. Separate them so one color is on the left and the other on the right. The strands are A to D from left to right.

    • 2). Wrap strand D around the back of the other strands to the left. Slide D between A and B and wrap D around the front of B and C to the right. Wrap strand A around the back of the other strand to the right. Bring it around the front of strands C and B to the left.

    • 3). Continue wrapping strands from back to front, alternating C and B with A and D. You should see a diamond pattern begin to emerge in the rounded cord you're braiding. Keep braiding until you have about 4 inches of cord left.

    • 4). Pinch the ends of the cords together and bend them down across your work to create a loop. Push the ends through the loop and tighten to create a half-granny knot. You're diamond stitch lanyard is complete.
