- 1). Find a rectangular cardboard box around your house. Examples that work well for the size of this project include a shoe box, an empty milk carton or an old tissue box. Cut the box along one long edge so that you can lift the lid of the box slightly, and cut squares out of each long side to make the windows of the bus, adding a rectangular door on one side. Use scissors or a box cutter for this step.
- 2). Cut apart an egg carton in order to separate the top and bottom. Cut down the bottom portion until it fits inside the cardboard box. Use glue to attach the egg carton to the inside of the box to make the bus seats.
- 3). Decorate the box to make it resemble a bus. Let your child use paint, markers, crayons or a combination of those things to decorate the outside of the bus. Help your child write the name of his school or the city transportation authority's logo on the side of the bus to make it more authentic.
- 4). Cut four circles out of black construction paper or craft foam. Glue them to the long sides of the bus, two on each side, to make the wheels.
- 5). When the bus craft is dry, your child can place her dolls, toys or action figures in the egg carton seats and take her toys for a ride.
