- 1). Navigate to the download page for the Internet Explorer 8 blocker (see Resources).
- 2). Click on the "Download' button on the website. At the pop-up window, press the "Open" button. Follow the installation prompts to finish the download.
- 3). Click on the Windows button and scroll to "Preferences." Locate the "Automatic Update" preference and uncheck the box next to it to turn it off.
- 4). Examine the Microsoft Update window whenever it pops up. If it contains "Internet Explorer 8," uncheck the box next to "Internet Explorer 8" before pressing "OK" or "Install."
