Low Cost Health Insurance - Beyond College

It is no secret that it is a tough job market out there, especially for recent college grads without any work experience.
And some of the jobs that they may secure may not have full coverage or benefits.
What does this mean to you as a recent graduate? Ask Mary, she recently graduated from Ohio State.
She did well in school, but in today's tough economy, ended up taking a part-time job that had the potential to turn full time; while the company and position had great potential, the salary and "package" didn't cover health insurance.
Because Mary was certain that the job would turn full-time and offer her benefits within the year, she did not take the time to obtain health insurance on her own (understandably, as it is quite a considerable expense for a recent grad).
Three months into Mary's job, she came down with a cold that turned into pneumonia.
She ended up in the hospital for a four-night visit, was home overnight, and ended up returning to the hospital with an infection.
Mary is fine, now.
However, the hospital visit coupled with prescriptions and then paired with a lack of health insurance meant that she was liable for the expense of the hospital, the tests, the chest X-Rays, etc.
Had Mary had a health insurance plan she could have save hundreds of dollars in medical costs.
If you are a recent graduate and young and healthy, you can look for a plan that provides basic coverage at a high deductible, therefore keeping your monthly premium lower.
Seek out the assistance of an independent broker as they usually have access to several health insurance companies and they can guide you towards the plan that best fits your needs and your budget.
