- 1). Wash your white hat in the washing machine if it is made of cotton or polyester. Just add laundry detergent and one cup of bleach. Wash the hat using the hot water setting. Do not put the hat in the dryer. The hat will shrink and then it won't fit your head.
- 2). Fill a clean kitchen sink 1/4 of the way with water. Dip a wash cloth in the water and then place a dab of Woolite on the wash cloth. Rub the Woolite in to the dirty parts of the hat until they come clean. Take some of the water in the kitchen sink and use it to rinse off the Woolite. Air dry the hat.
- 3). Place your wool or mesh white baseball cap in a hat cage. This will keep the white hat in its original shape. Set the cage in your dishwasher on the top rack. Use regular soap designed for a dishwasher and wash as you would your dishes. Remove the cap from the cage and set it out to finish drying.
- 4). Wet a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and work over any dirty areas on your hat. This product will even remove black markings. It is perfect for spot cleaning your hat in between washings. No need to rinse the hat; you can just let it air dry.
