Kia has been putting out some affordable quality vehicles in the last couple of years, so it should be no surprise that the company has posted a 61 percent profit increase for the second quarter this year. Kia also said it will launch some new models to create more demand and hopes to sell over two million vehicles this year.

Industry analysts warn that Kia profits may not increase as much in the third quarter due to the possibility of a strike by workers and Korean summer holidays. Union members employed by Kia did vote to strike if wage talks cannot be resolved soon. Right now one point of contention is paid union executive positions which may be cut.
Song Sang-hoon of Kyobo Securities said of Kia, Still, improved utilization rates and addition of new cars to the major markets will offer a strong catalyst to Kia in the fourth quarter.
