The Pentax 16-45 Review - A Fast Standard Zoom Lens for Pentax DSLR
The Pentax 16-45 telephoto lens is of the handiest lenses around. The lens is a perfect addition to a photographer's collection and is very handy all around. The zoom lens itself is available at a significantly lower price than its counterparts, making it cost effective and work efficient at the same time. The Pentax 16-45 lens covers wide-angles to short and medium range angles as well.
The Pentax 16-45 lens incorporates ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) glass which makes the quality of imagery higher and better. More so it makes the lens perform better and take sharp and quality images with color correctness. The ED used has made the lens more effective because of sharper images. As far as the barrel distortion is concerned, it can't be ruled out for a lens of this type but Pentax has done a good job at making sure that it is suppressed. Another striking thing about the Pentax 16-45 is that corner and center sharpness are equally effective.

The image circle has been designed in such a way that it matches the 23.5 x 15.7mm size CCD sensor used in Pentax DSLR which improves the camera's performance as whole. This change has made the size and weight smaller and lighter and has even had an effect on the cost, lowering it to a certain degree. It has aspherical lens features and which helps in making the light travel efficiently and easily through the lens to the actual film.
The focal length is 16-45mm which equals to 24.5-69mm in 35mm format. The focal length makes it perfect for environmental or scenic imagery and rather than going for a shallow depth of field, it is recommended that you go for scenic imagery with the optics. The Pentax 16-45 lens also has a Quick Shift Focus System which means that it can instantly shift from Auto Focus (AF) to Manual Focus (MF) with a slight twist or change in focus ring.
