How to Blackout Headlights
- 1). Scuff the surface of the headlight using the scuffing pad to create a surface the paint will to stick to.
- 2). Clean the surface using rubbing alcohol and a lint-free paper towel. This will remove any contaminants from the surface.
- 3). Mask off the headlight using the masking tape and masking paper. Cover anything that you don't want to tint, including any surrounding metal.
- 4). Spray a light coat of the tinting spray over the headlights. This is a "tack" coat, designed to allow the first coat to set up and provide a chemical bond with the second coat.
- 5). Wait 15 minutes and then spray a slightly heavier coat but not heavy enough to cause the paint to run.
- 6). Repeat until you achieve the desired tint level.
- 7). Remove the masking tape and paper once the paint has dried, usually within an hour.
