    • 1). Open the hood for access to the engine compartment. Locate the bottom radiator hose. Place a drain pan underneath where the hose is connected to the engine. There will be some coolant in the line and the drain pan will catch the coolant as it drains out.

    • 2). Unbolt the two bolts holding the hose to the thermostat housing. Slowly pull the hose away from the housing. Allow the coolant to drain into the pan.

    • 3). Pull the thermostat out of the housing. Replace with the new thermostat. Ensure the spring end of the thermostat is put in first.

    • 4). Bolt the hose back to the housing. Tighten the bolts down with a socket wrench.

    • 5). Unscrew the pressure cap on the radiator. Check the level of the coolant by verifying if it is visible from the neck of the radiator.

    • 6). Start the car with the pressure cap off the radiator. Allow the car to warm up. Check the level, as it will have dropped. Pour in pre-mixed coolant until the radiator is full. Tighten the cap onto the radiator.

    • 7). Turn the car off. Close the hood.
