Everyone has heard the saying; it hasbeen around for years.
The importance of reading is emphasized on television,in the news, and definitely in school.
So when is the right time to start readingto your child? Before they can talk? Before they start school? Actually, before birth is a good time to start.
Reading to your unborn child is not justgood for the baby, but for you as well.
Studies have not yet proventhat babies still in the womb can understand your words, but it is afact that they can hear your voice.
Reading to them is an enjoyableway to expose your baby to the sound of you, which actually does encouragebonding when they are born.
WHAT you read is not really that important, but HOW you read it is.
The baby won't be distressed if you read thenewspaper, unless the news upsets you.
Your tone of voice may affecthim, because they really can feel your emotions.
Reading aloud can be relaxing, to thereader and to the listener.
I have found through firsthand experiencethat when kids are over excited, and I am about to lose it, taking timefor a story calms everybody down.
It truly works a lot better than countingto 10, and is much more fun.
It has also been proven time and timeagain, in many studies over the years that reading to children improvestheir learning skills, their listening skills, and social development.
Kids that are read to from an early age have been shown to do betterin school, develop a healthier attitude toward learning, have higherself-esteem, and even learn to interact with others more easily.
Taking the time to read with your kidsis an easy, affordable, and special activity that will show your childhow much you love them.
Even if it just for a few minutes in a busylife, those moments are crucial.
Long after they have learned to readthemselves, they will remember how close they felt to you when you readthem stories.
