    • 1). Load the images that you want to use in your slide show onto your computer, either by transferring them from a digital source like a camera or Photo CD or by scanning them in if they are printed. If you do choose to use a scanner, make sure that you set the resolution to at least 600 DPI to avoid a low quality image. Save them all to one folder.

    • 2). Open Photoshop CS3. Select "File" and click "New." In the dialog that pops up, make the width 200 pixels and the height 150. Leave the resolution at 72 pixels per inches and click "OK."

    • 3). Choose a background color that you want by clicking on the "Foreground" color and changing it to what you want. Then use the "PaintBucket" tool to fill the canvas with that color.

    • 4). Select "File" from the menu and click "Open." In the dialog that pops up, browse to the folder that you saved the photos to and open the first one you want to use. Use the "Copy" and "Paste" functions located under the "Edit" menu to place the photo in the slide show document.

    • 5). Repeat step 4 to place all the image in the slide show. Each will be placed in its own layer in the "Layers" panel. Resize each image to fit the canvas.

    • 6). Select "Windows" from the menu and click "Animation." In the timeline that appears at the bottom of the screen click on the little drop down menu and choose "Make Frames from Animation."

    • 7). Select "File" and click "Save for Web or Devices." In the dialog that opens, make the file type GIF and choose the speed of the animation. Save the file and name it. You now have an animated GIF you can use as a slide show.
