Hidden Costs in Outpatient or Inpatient Surgery
When you are scheduled to have an outpatient or inpatient surgery do you know all the charges you will accumulate? I have spoken to many people who have had surgery, and they received bills from Medical Providers they had never known existed.
How is this possible? If you have answered yes or no, read on.
When you schedule your surgery the scheduling doctor's office will give you the date, time and place you will be having your surgery.
If you have medical insurance, you never give it a thought to what is involved? Or who is involved.
The Providers listed below are critical in your surgery, but unfortunately, the only one discussed is the surgeon who will perform the actual surgery and the Hospital or Outpatient Surgery Center where the surgery will be performed.
(1)Surgeon (2)Assistant Surgeon (3)Anesthesiologist (4)Lab (5)X-ray (6)Pre-op (7)Facility Charge (8) Miscellaneous After you are once again home and comfortable and recovering all these bills arrive.
You are amazed and then suspicious at how you can incur so many debts without realizing.
If you have good medical insurance, your bills will be paid correctly and on time.
If there is a problem with the insurance company then you have a problem.
The problems arise when your insurance is not contracted with any of the other Providers listed above.
This is a problem you actually do not have any control over, but you are the one which is receiving the brunt of this on going problem.
This problem is serious, and yet I have not heard of any insurance company who would like to solve this problem.
When yoursurgery is scheduled - ask questions.
