How to Replace a GE Control Board That Is Now Clicking
- 1). Move the refrigerator away from the wall, and unplug the power cord.
- 2). Locate the control board cover, set above the lower-rear access panel and secured with nine hex-head screws.
- 3). Remove the nine hex-head screws, and then remove the control board cover.
- 4). Wrap masking tape around each wire, and label the placement of the wire to ensure that you install the wires correctly on the new control board.
- 5). Remove the wire connectors from the refrigerator's control board.
- 6). Depress the four plastic tabs securing the control board in place and remove the control board from the control board housing.
- 7). Snap the new control board onto the four plastic tabs in the control board housing.
- 8). Reaffix the wire connectors, referencing the labels on the wires if you are unsure of the proper installation location.
- 9). Replace the control board cover and reinstall the nine hex-head screws to secure the cover to the refrigerator cabinet.
