Garrett Turbo Installation

    • 1). Run the engine for 10 to 15 minutes, allowing it to warm the engine oil completely. Drain the oil from the sump. Remove the sump and clean it thoroughly. Old oil is full of contaminants and metal shavings, which will increase wear on the new turbo. Replace the sump and plug, then replace the oil filter and refill the oil.

    • 2). Raise the hood and allow the car to cool fully before removing the exhaust header with the torque wrench. With the two collar bolts loosened, lift the header out. Replace it with the Garrett header that includes a port for the turbo.

    • 3). Bolt the turbo to the new header and ensure that it is bolted securely in position before connecting any hoses. Install the intercooler in the front of the engine bay, near the radiator. The exact position will vary from car to car, but some models may have ready-made lugs for that purpose.

    • 4). Connect the water feed and drain hoses from the intercooler to the turbo. Connect the oil drain from the turbo to the sump, and the oil feed from the turbo to the inlet on the engine. Ensure all threads are appropriately tightened and hoses seated securely. Start the engine and allow it to idle for 10 to 15 minutes. Check beneath the car for any leaks or other issues before test driving.
