How to Create a Widows XP Boot CD
- 1). Copy the entire contents of the Windows XP CD to your hard drive.
- 2). Download the UBCD4Win.
- 3). Install UBCD4Win by clicking on the file. Do not install the program in a path that has spaces in it: c:\ubcd4win is a good choice.
- 1). Run the program by double clicking 'UBCD4WinBuilder.exe' inside the program's install directory. It does not make a desktop icon.
- 2). Click 'OK' to skip past the introduction window and choose 'No' when it asks if you want to have it search for Windows.
- 3). Use the '...' next to the 'Source' field to browse to the directory where you copied the Windows CD. Leave the other two fields alone.
- 4). Choose "Create ISO Image" and choose a file name if you want to burn the CD later. If you want to burn it now, then select "Burn to CD/DVD."
- 5). Push the "Plugins" button if you want to customize your UBCD4Win, but this isn't necessary for its creation.
- 6). Click the "Build" button when you are ready. You will need to approve the creation of your directories and verify that you are using a legitimate copy of Windows. This will cause the build screen to appear and begin working; it may take a very long time based on your computer's speed.
- 7). Select "Close" when it finishes and, depending on your choice above, you will either have a boot disk or have the ISO to create one in your favorite burning program.
