    • 1). Select a camping spot according to how you plan to camp. The Indian Well campground at Lava Beds has 43 campsites available first-come, first serve. These include sites for motorhomes up to 30 feet, pickup campers, tents or small trailers. The sites include cooking grills, fire rings and picnic tables. Shower and restroom facilities are available, as are hookups and RV dump stations.

    • 2). Pay the camp hosts the $10.00 per night camping fee. Senior or Access pass holders get a 50 percent discount. Park rangers present an evening slide show at the amphitheater during the summer.

    • 3). Review the camp rules for campsite capacity, vehicle usage, pet restrictions, fire restrictions and check-in/check out times.

    • 4). Ask about the group site if looking for a spot for up to 40 campers. The minimum fee is $45 and the maximum $60 per night, based on a $3 per person fee. Reservations for the group site can be made by calling 530-667-8113 up to three months in advance.

    • 5). Camp for free in the back country, but obey restrictions for camping near developed areas or caves. Fires are not allowed in the back country and water must be packed in.
