  Aniak, Alaska, is home to stunning wilderness and world-class fishing. Located just over 300 air miles west of Anchorage, this tiny village had a population of 500 in 2010.   Nestled outside the village, the Aniak Three Rivers Lodge is known for its remote river fishing. The fishing lodge, which sleeps up to eight people, offers modern conveniences that include internet, DVDs and home-cooked meals. Experienced guides can give you up to 10 hours of fishing a day, and also vacuum- pack and freeze your catch for you to take home. There is a large variety of fish in the surrounding waters, including Pacific salmon, arctic char and grayling.

Aniak River Lodge

  This fishing lodge, located on the waterfront in the village of Aniak, is touted as one of the top angling destinations in the region. You can choose to stay at the main lodge or in one of their two cabins. Both options are modern and comfortable, with meals prepared by the lodge’s chef. This area of Aniak has 11 species of fish to pursue. While the staff encourage catch-and-release, they will also assist you in taking home a legal portion of salmon. More hard-core fishers can opt to tent at the lodge’s camp site, 40 miles upriver.

Aniak Air Guides Fly-Out Fishing Lodge

• Aniak Air Guides offers three bunkhouses with nearby baths and a lodge with seven guest rooms and four full bathrooms – 19 beds in all. Guests should enjoy pets, as the owners have two cats and two dogs that are a big part of the experience. The cook uses homegrown produce when preparing meals. When not fishing, you can enjoy satellite TV and Internet access. Laundry service is also available.
