Safety While Using A Trampoline
Trampolines have always been objects of fun and entertainment.
I remember the first time I saw a trampoline at work when I visited a circus at the age of 6 and I thought, "Aw! That's cool!" Trampolines have always been objects of fascination and for a kid growing up; having one at home is an absolute joy.
However there are significant reasons for safety during the use of a trampoline.
Accidents do happen and if not used under the supervision of an adult it can be fatal.
One of the reasons why trampoline safety pads are used is to ensure that the person jumping is aware what his limits for safety are.
When kids are playing on a trampoline, 75% of the injuries happen because they are jumping in tandem.
As far as possible always let on only one child jump at a time so that he can control his movements.
Also ensure that the surrounding area is soft or at least padded so that there are lesser chances of injury in case there is a mistimed fall.
There are several padding equipments available in almost all the stores selling sports equipments.
Even if it costs a bit more, ensure that you have the safety equipments like padding purchased with the trampoline.
When it is not in use keep the ladder stored away some where safe so that the children cannot access them on their own and play unsupervised.
Injuries often happen because the kid while playing or practicing cannot control his movements and may land awkwardly or land outside the trampoline and hurts himself.
Having padding outside the trampoline is one way to prevent a serious injury in case there is a mistimed fall outside it.
However in case your kid is trying to seriously take up trampoline, then a quick training session at the local trampoline club would be a better idea before he is allowed a run on his own.
Another reason why accidents happen is because of the adrenaline rush kids attempt to jump too high.
Although attempting to achieve escape velocity is futile on a trampoline, the kid can certainly and often fatally injure himself if his jump is mistimed and land outside the safety padding or outside the round frame.
Always ensure that the kids play under adult supervision.
However don't needlessly interfere and spoil the fun, just keep an eye so that they can have fun safely.
