Welcome guests to your home with a festive entrance way. Decorating your door for the holiday is a way to let your Christmas spirit be the first thing people notice. Take a cue from the decorating style inside your home to make a continuous display. Whether that style is elegant, child-like or natural, there are door decorations that will suit your home. - Purchase a pre-made wreath or create one out of your favorite choice of materials. Start with a ring of freshly cut evergreen branches or a foam circle. Attach ribbons and Christmas balls, wrapped candy or pine cones. The color scheme can be a traditional red and green, or silver and blue. There are even some Christmas wreaths with pink or gold. Small toys can also be added or a sitting Santa.
- Cut a door-size Christmas tree from cardboard. Use traced hand prints cut from green construction paper to depict the evergreen branches, and attach the tree cut-out to the door. Use colorful paper to wrap small, empty boxes, and tape them to the door as well. Add bows and a star for the top of the Christmas tree.
Cut a snowman shape from cardboard. Spray with white spray paint. Draw on a face, and hang the snowman on the door. Attach a real hat, scarf and gloves to the snowman.
Cut a stocking shape from red fabric. Attach a white, faux-fur border to the top of the stocking, and hang the stocking on the door. Add small toys or wrapped, empty boxes to the top opening of the stocking. - Wrap the entire door with Christmas wrapping paper. Attach a cross shape of ribbons and a large bow to complete the wrapped Christmas gift effect. The pattern of the paper will determine the overall look of your Christmas door. It can be a solid sheet of gold with a giant red bow and ribbon, or a snowman paper with blue ribbons and a starburst shape of silver curling ribbon for a bow.
