How to Skip Trace Debtors

104 51

    Contacts

    • 1). Check with the employer listed by the debtor when he applied for the loan. If the debtor is still working there, your work is done. If not, ask where he's working now. Also get the names of employees still working there who might have been close with your target.

    • 2). Contact any references the debtor listed when applying for the loan. Ask if they know how to get in touch with your target. Ask if they know anybody else who might be able to help you reach him.

    • 3). Show up in person to interview references and contacts for your debtor. In-person contacts are much harder to lie during or blow off.

    • 4). Go three or four deep for each reference. Every time you talk with somebody about your target, gather names and contact information for other people who might know him. Contact those people and do the same through a minimum of three connections.

    • 5). Show up around major holidays if you have an address for the debtor's parents or kids not living with him. Good holidays to try are Christmas, Thanksgiving, Mother's Day and the birthday of any close relations living at that address.

    Records And Internet

    • 1). Log in to a people finding website. If you're a licensed investigator, chances are you already have a membership as part of the tools of your trade. If not, most such sites have a "weekend pass" or similar offer that will give you access for as long as you need to find one person.

    • 2). Search for the names of your debtor, his references and any family you know about. Note the names, phone numbers and addresses for each. Note the names of any roommates or relatives the people finding service gives out.

    • 3). Log in to an Internet phone directory that has a reverse lookup service. Use it to gather contact information on all the names you gathered. Use the reverse lookup to gather info on the phone numbers and addresses.

    • 4). Call or show up at all the reasonable addresses and phone numbers you found. Conduct interviews just as you did for other contacts and references.
