• In the course, students learn about making an arrest as a security officer and how to handle an arrest situation. They study tracking, reporting and acting on terrorist activity. Recruits study discrimination and stereotyping factors and how to use various means of communication. They also become proficient in surveillance techniques and learn to document their observations. Applicants also learn laws relating to the job they intend to pursue after the course.
  
  

Further Study

• After completing the basic course, security officers have the opportunity to continue their study. The Advanced Security Officer Training Course focuses on protecting buildings and events. The Security Management Training Course and the Incident Management Training Course provide supervisors and managers with further information. The latter course focuses more specifically on emergencies.
