How to Write a Product Review

    • 1). Take pictures or videos of the product. Images greatly enhance product reviews by making them more appealing to consumers. Depending on the product being reviewed, you could have photos of the product itself, before and after photos showing results of use, or videos demonstrating how to use the product.

    • 2). Write a paragraph describing the product. To start off your review, you'll want to describe the product in detail describing its size, weight, price, installation, difficulty of use, packaging, features and any other pertinent information that the buyer would want to know. The description category details will vary depending on what the product is that you're reviewing.

    • 3). Write a paragraph about the ideal buyer. In this paragraph, describe the type of buyer the product would be good for. For example, if the review is for a laser hair removal device that only works on individuals with light to medium skin tones, tell readers that this product isn't for them if they have darker skin.

    • 4). Incorporate proof that you actually used the product in your review. This can be accomplished by including photos or videos of using the product, or also by writing a detailed description of the process of using it and your experiences. When writing, make sure your content isn't duplicative of other reviews on the market. After reading several reviews, buyers will take notice when the same information is just regurgitated over and over again.

    • 5). Point out both the pros and cons of the product. Buyers are skeptical of articles that are completely positive and appear to be biased. A good review will compare and contrast both the positives and the negatives of the product. In addition to information on the product itself, you should also include comparisons on the pricing, ordering process and delivery. Help buyers weigh the pros and cons so they can make their own informed decisions on whether or not to purchase it for themselves. You can also compare the product to a similar one made by a competitor. An example would be a comparison of an Apple iPad versus a Blackberry Playbook.

    • 6). Tell your readers how to proceed with ordering the product if they choose to do so. You can tell them where they can purchase it and where they can get the best deals. You can also give further instructions if there's something unusual about the ordering process such as having to follow certain steps to download a program.

    • 7). Incorporate a few keyword phrases into your review. Keywords are important because they are used to rank your review in search engines. The higher the rank, the more likely your review is to be seen by readers. Keywords should mimic the words or phrases the average person would type into search engines.
