How to Read Codes on the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
- 1). Find the trapezoidal-shaped diagnostic link connector, which is located to the left of the steering wheel on the dash. Plug the OBD II scanner into this port.
- 2). Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ACC" position. Make sure you don't start the engine.
- 3). Turn on the scanner and wait while it retrieves the codes. On some scanners you must press a command like "Retrieve Codes." In either case, eventually it will display alphanumeric codes on its screen.
- 4). Write down the codes on a piece of paper. Look up the codes in the scanner's operation manual. This will give you the exact meaning of each code.
- 5). Unplug the scan tool from the port and turn off the vehicle.
