- 1). Undo the buckles on one side of the surcingle completely so the surcingle opens up like the letter C. It doesn't matter which side.
- 2). Fit the surcingle onto the horse's back just below the shoulder muscles and run the bottom straps around the horse's ribs just behind it's front legs.
- 3). Fit the loose end through the buckle and tighten the surcingle until your can just slide your hand between the straps and the horse's body.
- 4). Buckle the straps to keep the surcingle in place.
