How to Remove the Oil Pressure Sensor From an 8.1L

    • 1). Shift the vehicle's transmission into park or first gear (manual transmission). Shut down the engine and apply the parking brake. Open the hood and let the engine cool for 60 minutes.

    • 2). Locate the oil pressure sensor on the back side of the engine block. It is made from black plastic and shaped like roll of nickels.

    • 3). Press the locking tab on the sensor's electrical connector and separate the connector from the sensor. Slip a 1-inch box-end wrench over the end of the oil pressure sensor and turn it counterclockwise. Continue loosening the sensor with the wrench until it can be turned by hand. Unscrew the sensor the remainder of the way by hand and remove it from the vehicle.
