- 1). Choose a windless day, when the temperature remains under 85 degrees Fahrenheit, on which to apply the ammonium nitrate.
- 2). Water the bamboo as your normally do before applying the ammonium nitrate.
- 3). Sprinkle 1/2 lb. of ammonium nitrate over the soil, 2 inches away from and completely surrounding the bamboo plant. Apply the fertilizer in mid-June and again at the beginning of September.
- 4). Water the soil around the bamboo plant after applying the ammonium nitrate to soak the product into the plant's roots. Water slowly and deeply.
