Many years ago, I believed that conceiving a boy was simply either the luck of the draw or depended on whether sons ran in my  (or my husband's) family.  Once I began thinking about starting my own family, I conducted a lot of research on natural gender selection and I learned that there are actually a lot of pretty easy and inexpensive things that you can do to greatly increase your odds of getting pregnant with a boy child. 

You don't have to leave things to chance or hope for the best. Rather, you can be proactive and come up with a pretty simple conception regimen that is noninvasive, inexpensive, and very effective.  Some say that the methods that I will cover in this article will increase your success to somewhere approaching ninety percent.

What You Need To Understand And Focus On First:  If you want to get a boy child, it's very important that you understand goal number one.  As counter intuitive as this may sound, you have to be kind of picky about when and how you conceive.  Many couples will guesstimate their fertility window and then make sure that they are having intercourse as often as possible during that time.  This is not the best plan and I'll explain why below.

If you want a boy, your most important goal is this. You need to keep the X or girl sperm out of your vaginal / reproductive tract.  Obviously, if the X sperm aren't there, they can't fertilize your egg.  If all that is left is the Y or boy sperm, then obviously only Y sperm can reach your egg, and your chances of getting your son are extremely high and almost certain (assuming you get pregnant).

This sounds straightforward and simple, but there are some things to consider.  Unfortunately, the girl sperm are very strong.  It takes a lot to get rid of them.  And, the boy sperm are weak, so you'll have to be careful of how you affect them.  I'll go over how to do this below.

Timing Is Absolutely Everything: Remember when I alluded to the fact that  just trying to hit your fertility window blindly wasn't the way to go? Well, this is why.  The girl sperm can live for a very long time.   If you conceive early in your window, they will have no problem hanging in there, and laying in wait.  The boy sperm, however, will die off using this time frame.  Now, even though the boy sperm are vulnerable, the up side to this is that they are extremely speedy.  So, in a race, they will often win.  This is a very good thing. 

By conceiving on the day of ovulation, you're making sure that the boy sperm are at their fastest and their healthiest.  And, you're ensuring that they don't have any chance of weakening or dying off. Make sure that you are very accurate with your ovulation day.  You can't just guess and expect to be successful.  And, if you're not absolutely sure that basal temperature or cervical mucus monitoring is working for you, take a look at more updated methods.  I suggest recent, advanced ovulation predictors.  I really like saliva. I reason that if It's accurate enough for DNA, then it's good enough to predict ovulation.

Why You Need To Be Less Acidic If You Want A Boy Child:  Y sperm (boy) vulnerability is multiplied when it hits an acidic vaginal or reproductive tract. You can't have this.  So, you must alkalize your body and your vagina before you attempt to conceive.  You do this through your diet and by douching.  Changing up your diet means consuming only alkaline foods and avoiding acidic ones.  Douching is sort of what it sounds like, but you won't be using baking and soda and water.  Technology has advanced a bit, thank goodness.  If either of these methods seem unsavory to you, understand that you only have to do this until you get your PH as low as it needs to be.  And, you can chose one method over another.  You'll just have to have a bit more patience because combining these methods gives the fastest results.

One little tool that makes this a bit easier are little PH testing strips that you can get on line or at nutrition centers.  This will tell you where you naturally fall and will give you some idea as to how far you need to tweak things and how long this will take. And, you can continue to test as you move along with the diet or try the douches. This will tell you what is working best for you and how close you are getting to being at the optimal level. Other useful tools are douche recipes and food lists that tell you the PH of different foods.

How You Conceive Is As Important As When You Conceive When Trying For A Boy Rather Than A Girl:  Timing and acidity are crucial, but here's one more thing to consider. How you send the sperm to the egg (meaning the sexual positions you use) can make a difference too.  If you want to conceive a boy child, avoid positions that offer shallow penetration like the traditional missionary style or spooning.  Instead, you want to achieve deep penetration and I'll bet by now you understand why.  You want to expose the Y sperm to the vaginal tract for as short a time as you possibly can. Deep penetration allows this while shallow penetration will only prolong their vulnerability.
