How to Jackhammer a Floor
- 1). Put on safety equipment, including gloves, soundproof ear muffs, steel-toe boots and a HEPA filter mask for the dust.
- 2). Start the generator for the jackhammer and let it warm up.
- 3). Plug the jackhammer into the generator, using a 110-amp extension cord.
- 4). Press the trigger for the jackhammer and touch the tip to the concrete. Chip out bits in a small area until you get down to the earth beneath.
- 5). Lift the concrete out of the hole, using the jackhammer as a lever to bring the concrete up off the earth beneath. Continue doing this in small sections to make lifting out the concrete easier.
- 6). Break the concrete into smaller pieces and lift them out, using a shovel.
