How to Remove a Dashboard for a 94 Chevy Suburban

    • 1). Open the hood of the Suburban and use a socket wrench to remove the negative terminal off of the battery.

    • 2). Remove the center assembly between the seats by pulling it straight up out of the vehicle. Remove the bolts holding the center compartment with a socket wrench and remove the center compartment.

    • 3). Open the ash tray and use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws securing it in place. Disconnect the wire connector from the rear of the cigarette lighter. Remove the ash tray from the vehicle.

    • 4). Remove the four screws from the center dash bezel using a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the bezel off the vehicle and disconnect the three wire connectors connected to the center dash bezel.

    • 5). Use a slotted screwdriver to pry out the headlamp switch and the cargo-lamp connector. Disconnect their wire connectors before removing them.

    • 6). Remove the two screws securing the radio and the two screws securing the AC unit. Pull both devices out and remove the wire connectors from the rear of the devices. Pull both the radio and the AC unit out of the vehicle.

    • 7). Remove the two steering column panel screws and remove the steering column panel. Disconnect the wire connector behind the panel.

    • 8). Lower the steering wheel and reach behind the instrument cluster to disconnect its two wire connectors. Remove the four instrument cluster retaining screws and pull the instrument cluster out of the vehicle.

    • 9). Use a slotted screwdriver to remove every air vent from the dashboard. Remove all of the speaker covers on the dashboard as well.

      Remove the five upper carrier screws on the dashboard. There is a screw under each speaker cover on the dashboard and three screws under the defroster vent.

      Disconnect the handle of the parking brake by removing the screw securing it. Remove it from the vehicle by popping it out with a flat head screwdriver.

      Remove the kick pad underneath the driver's side by prying it off with a flat head screwdriver. Repeat this process with the passenger's side kick pad.

      Remove all of the bolts securing the dash pad along the edge of the dash itself. Use a socket wrench to remove all nine bolts. Once the bolts have been removed, lift the dashboard up and off the vehicle. Disconnect any remaining electrical connectors and pull the dashboard out of the vehicle.
