The small town of Hamburg is situated in northwestern New York, on the southeastern banks of Lake Erie, just a few miles south of Buffalo. It is about 35 miles south of Niagara Falls. While the town is not the major tourist attraction its neighbors are, it does offer some things to do. - The Penn Dixie Paleontological and Outdoor Education Center is owned and operated by the Hamburg Natural History Society, Inc. The center offers summer day camps for children, as well as a variety of programs throughout the year, like the Nature Cruise and Buffalo Lighthouse Tour and evening astronomy programs. The center is also available for birthday parties and sponsors events for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Visitors also have the opportunity to explore paleontology through the center's fossil and archaeology programs, and ornithology through bird-watching on-site.

penndixie.org - The Boies-Lord House Museum has been restored and is operated by the Hamburg Antiques Study Group. The group meets monthly to hear a speaker discuss antiques, and to enjoy refreshments together. The group maintains the museum, sponsors an antiques show in the fall and a flea market in the summer. The home is furnished in the style of a middle-class Greek revival home in the mid-19th century. It was originally home to Horace Boies, a lawyer who became governor of Iowa, and Dr. Alvah Lord, whose medical office was located in the home's dining room.

For the more adventurous, the Seaway Trail also offers scuba diving for divers of all experience levels, boasting hundreds of shipwrecks spanning two and a half centuries, uncrowded waters and visibility up to 40 feet at a depth of 110 feet.
