The Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia was named for Earl W. Oglebay who first opened his 1,700-acre summer estate more than 100 years ago for both recreational opportunities and overnight accommodations. The resort features a large lodge with more than 200 rooms and amenities, such as fine dining, a full-service spa, an indoor swimming pool, a hot tub and sauna. Guests who would like a little more privacy can choose from 54 different-styled cabins. - Deluxe units at Oglebay Resort include amenities such as large fireplaces, televisions, fully-equipped kitchens, microwaves, coffee-makers, telephones, gas grills and guests' choice of two, four or six bedrooms with both queen and double beds. The units also feature one to four bathrooms. Traditional units offer the same amenities but all feature four bedrooms and one to two bathrooms.
- The Oglebay Resort offers three premium 5,000-square-foot units featuring eight bedrooms, six bathrooms and parking for eight. These are perfect for larger families or groups. Amenities include a fully-equipped kitchen with two refrigerators, a large fireplace, two flat-screen televisions, a DVD player, wireless Internet, a gas grill and a large deck.
- The Oglebay Resort also offers four estate houses overlooking the golf club and the resort, featuring wooden rustic decor and antique furnishings. The houses are the former retreats of the Oglebay family. Luxuries include large stone fireplaces, large screen televisions, game tables, barbecue grills, patios, fully-equipped kitchens and private parking.
