How to Connect Yahoo to Mac Mail
- 1). Subscribe to the Yahoo Mail Plus service. As of the time of publication, the Yahoo Mail Plus service costs about $20 for a one-year subscription (see Resources).
- 2). Open the Mac Mail program.
- 3). Click "File" and choose "Add Account." This opens an account setup window.
- 4). Enter your name, Yahoo email address and the password to your Yahoo email account.
- 5). Select "POP" from the Account Type menu. Provide a name for the account connection.
- 6). Enter the following in the box for the incoming mail server: "plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com" -- but omit the quote marks.
- 7). Type your Yahoo user name in the POP user name box. Your username is your Yahoo email address minus the "@yahoo.com" appendage.
- 8). Type your Yahoo Mail password in the POP password field.
- 9). Click the "Continue" button to edit your outgoing SMTP server settings which allow you to send Yahoo emails through Mac Mail.

Set the POP port to "995" and the TLS/SSL required setting to "Yes." - 11
Enter the following in the box for the outgoing SMTP server: "plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com" -- again, omit the quote marks. - 12
Enter your Yahoo username and password in the appropriate fields. - 13
Set the SMTP port to "465" and set TLS/SSL requirements to "Yes." - 14
Click the "Continue" button to proceed to the verification page. Check the "Take account online" button and choose "Create" to enable Mac Mail's access to your Yahoo Mail Plus account.
