The Master Mind Behind the New York Yankees
The New York Yankees are the best, the worst, the most overpaid, who? It depends on what background you are from that determines what you will say about the Yankees, but George Steinbrenner was the owner that gave the Yankees their reputation of a great team.
For the person that said, "Who?" George Steinbrenner was the owner of the New York Yankees from 1973 to 2010.
He was the man that brought the Yankees to the top of the MLB.
George Steinbrenner was known for using his money to get what he wanted.
He was also known for overpaying his players.
These two characteristics are what enabled him to create an outstanding team.
This is because of one simple fact, talent follows the money.
Many owners hated him for this because they didn't have that kind of money to throw around and he was taking great athletes from their team that would make fans want to buy their tickets, but instead of buying their tickets, they bought New York Yankee tickets instead.
This led him to a couple of bans as the team's general partner.
When you looked through all the bans and criticism surrounding George Steinbrenner, he still had the number one team in the MLB and that is a fact.
He was able to accumulate 11 American League Pennants, 16 East Division titles, and 7 World Series titles.
All the criticism he received could not remove the fact that George Steinbrenner was doing something right to have his team win so many titles.
With Mr.
Steinbrenner's death, everyone is asking, "what now?".
Will the remaining Steinbrenner brothers keep George's legacy alive or will we see a change in the long lived reputation of the New York Yankees?
