Muscle Pain in the Emergency Department: A Case of Myositis
A 17-year-old African American male presents to the emergency department with the chief complaint of bilateral groin pain. The groin pain began several months ago and appears to be related to his weight lifting routine. Since suffering an initial injury to his groin he developed increasing pain associated with the inability to bear weight and ambulate independently. This case will present the symptoms of myositis and the working differential diagnosis in the emergency department (ED).
