Chicago's Midway Airport is accessible by train through the city's Transit Authority Orange Line. Midway Airport is one of two major airports operated under Chicago's Department of Aviation and is the smaller of the two. Although there is no train service within the airport like there is at O'Hare International Airport, the Orange Line provides passengers with service to and from Midway. - The CTA's Orange Line travels between downtown Chicago and Midway International Airport. It also provides service to the city's southwest side. It operates from Midway, located in southwest Chicago, and heads downtown. It then travels in a clockwise motion around what is known as the Chicago Loop, eventually making its way back to the airport. If passengers are downtown, it typically takes about 20 to 25 minutes to get to Midway via the Orange Line. Passengers with late flights or early flights can still take advantage of the Orange Line because it runs most hours each day. The only time the train does not run is from about 1 to 4 a.m. and after 11 p.m. Sundays. The CTA provides passengers with a bus service during these hours; the service is known as the N62 Archer. The fare for one person is $2.25 for a ride from the airport to the center of the city, as of August 2010.
- As part of the loop the Orange Line follows from Midway to downtown Chicago and back, passengers also may take the train home from the airport. The same hours and fares apply to passengers whether they are going to or from Midway. To catch the Orange Line from Midway, go just east of the terminal where the line is located in the enclosed walkway. There will be signs that state where the CTA trains to the city are located. There is also an orange line on the airport's floor that leads passengers to the trains.
- For travelers who need to get between Midway and O'Hare airports, the CTA offers a train service. However, travelers must use both the Orange Line that services Midway and the Blue Line, which goes to O'Hare. Passengers leaving Midway should take the Orange Line downtown and jump on the Blue Line that goes to O'Hare. Passengers can do this at either the Clark or Lake stops downtown, both of which allows passengers to jump to the other line for free. Otherwise, an additional single ticket from downtown to O'Hare on the Blue Line is $2.25, as of August 2010. The whole trip from Midway to O'Hare lasts about two hours.
