Parfum To Eau De Cologne: The Differences In Perfumes
We often hear the question, when we sell the Marilyn Miglin Fragrance lines, what is the difference between perfume, parfum, eau de toilette and others. There are differences is the variations of perfumes and it is often reflected in the price of the product. Not just the price but the use of the product should be considered also. Perfumes offer a wide varitety of scents both in longevity and strength.
The creation of a perfume involves the combination of various natural elements and essences of plant oils, synthetic materials to increase the scent and alcohol. The ratio of oils to alcohol is the basis for the labeling process. The different types are simply a matter of the amount or concentration of oils in the fragrance. These oils are called "juice." The highest concentration of "juice" is in perfumeor parfum and can contain 15-40% essential oils. The next in line would be Eau de Parfum, containing 7-15% essential oils. Eau de Parfum is the most popular type of perfume providing a long lasting scent but much less expensive than Extrait Parfum. Eau de Toilette is 1-6% oils and provides a light scent that will not last long. Eau de T and finally Eau de Cologne. Actually, Eau de Tilette was originally used as a morning splash. Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne are generally interchangeable, particularly in Men's fragrances. Eau de Cologne was specially named to refer to the citrus oils used in the making.
The higher the concentration of "juice" the longer your fragrance will last, and the less you need to apply. Scented soaps, lotions, and body sprays will contain the least amount of oils. This will justify buying a higher quality and often higher price version of the scents you enjoy.
The concentration of oils affects the strength and longevity of the scent, personal taste will dictate favorites. Marilyn MIglin offers a variety of fragrances to choose from.
