How to Troubleshoot a Freezer Door That Opens in a GE Profile Arctica
- 1). Check how you close the doors on the unit. Close the door gently to avoid forcing air from one section into the other; otherwise, the displaced air can cause the door to pop open.
- 2). Examine the position of the fridge. The front of the fridge should be slightly higher than the back of the fridge. This helps the door to close on its own and to stay closed.
- 3). Check for obstructions. Remove anything that blocks the door from closing properly. Ensure drawers and shelves are in place so they don’t keep the door open.
- 4). Check the door seal. Clean the seal regularly so the door can close and seal tightly. Replace magnetic seals if worn and no longer working. This involves lifting the lip of the seal up and removing the small bolts holding the seal to the door using a wrench, a screwdriver or Torx wrench, depending on the bolt’s head. Only remove the seal if you have another to replace it.
- 5). Check the door hinges. Ensure the hinges are clean, unobstructed and undamaged.
